The night was cold and foggy. It was always cold and foggy now it seemed. He crouched down in the corner of their shelter and pulled his coat a bit closer around him. He coughed into his sleeve and then pulled out his pills and water. It was another night that would be filled with him thinking about everything that was happening.
He coughed again and popped two of the pills, following them down with a swig of water. He could hear his master in the shadows of the cave, blending in with the inky blackness.
This had all started with a fear. A fear of dying. A fear of the unknown. He had made a deal with the devil, and now was being controlled by a faceless, nameless fear that had made him be faceless and nameless too. He had left his old life behind as soon as he had put that mask on for the first time
His master moved again, slowly and ever so carefully, sending out one of those long  black appendages over to him, grazing over his hair just to make sure he was still there. He knew that his master knew that he was still in the same room, but it was done anyways if not merely just to show control.
He had no life of his own now. This creature, whatever it was truly, was his life now. He did as it willed even though he knew it was affecting those closest to him.
This bothered him still, especially since when this had first started, he had done all of this without knowing it. At least then he had been unaware, waking up in his room, not knowing what he had been doing for the past however many hours. He remembered how scared he felt when the memory lapses had begun…but soon the creature, his master now, confronted him and gave him the option. Die, or do what he was told using his own free will.
It made it even worse knowing that he had chosen this, so now he lived on those pills to dull the pain. His master thought this was extremely amusing, but let him have his way. He could always take the medication away later and use it against him.
It got colder, and he could see his breath freezing, even with the mask still on. He never removed that now, it was part of him. It kept him from remembering who he really was.
His master's arm came back again, and pushed against him, making him lie down. He knew that the creature never slept, but was aware of his needs. If he was too tired then he wouldn't be able to perform his job correctly, and that was inconvenient.
He curled up on the ground and closed his eyes, feeling one or two more arms fawn over him lightly. It was strangely comforting, even though he didn't know for sure if it was meant to be taken that way.
He shivered slightly in the cold and coughed again, the arms still petting him, lulling him to sleep.
In the silence he heard his master. It made almost a kind of an anti noise of sorts that crept into his mind, making him even more tired than he was before. Soon he fell asleep, and the creature tugged an old cloth over his servant to keep him from shivering so much. Not out of caring, but because it knew that he required such things to stay alive.
The creature retracted his arms back into the shadows, watching with it's sightless face.
Okay..yeah..I had to do it, sorry guys.
I had to do a fanfic and this probably sucks ass but it had to happen because I love these two so much, and I adore masky with a big blazing passion of a thousand suns...so yeah. ILU guys. ♥
